Charles Edelen, DDS
Dr. Edelen received his undergraduate and dental degrees from The Ohio State University. He graduated from the OSU College of Dentistry in June 1985, after which he became a commissioned officer with the United States Public Health Service. While in the USPHS he worked for the Indian Health Service on two different Indian Reservations in Montana and Wyoming. After five and a half years in the Public Health Service, Dr. Edelen and his wife Julie (Redinbo) returned to Sidney in the spring of 1991, where he opened his private dental practice.
Dr. Edelen currently resides south of Sidney on a farm in Orange Township with his wife Julie and their three children Kellie, Jake and Ryan. The farm is mainly for crops, but has horses, dogs, cats and plenty of fresh air. Dr. Edelen is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting, fishing and camping. He is very active in the Boy Scouts organization (Troop 95), with his sons and has taken two backpacking trips in New Mexico. He has also traveled to Africa twice to donate dental care in Tanzanian villages and the Angel House Orphanage with a group led by Dr. Lisa Alvetro. While there, he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.
Dr. Edelen enjoys golf, skiing, spending time with his family, and anything that has to do with the great outdoors. He is an avid fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes and is proud of the family tradition of attending school there, which is where he and Julie met.
Proficient in all areas of general dentistry, Dr. Edelen has also completed several post-graduate courses of continuing education and strives to always stay abreast of all the latest advancements in modern dentistry.

Damen Patel, DDS
Dr. Patel graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Dental Medicine in 1995. Upon graduation, he completed a one-year general practice residency program at Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut. He then worked at a dental clinic and was in private practice in New York State. In 2003, Dr. Patel and his family had the opportunity to move to Sidney, join Dr. Edelen in practice, and also be closer to family. He became a full partner in the practice the following year.
Dr. Patel and his wife are the proud parents of two daughters and a son. He is a self-proclaimed golf addict. He loves to play, read and dream about golf. As a dentist, he believes in treating patients as he would family, and offering them the latest that technology has to offer in order to help them achieve dental health.
Currently, Dr. Patel is working on continuing education courses with the United States Dental Institute to offer both adult and children patients orthodontic care. He is also working on an externship program with The Midwest Implant Institute to become certified in surgically placing dental implants. Dr. Patel has also traveled on mission trips with a dental team to provide dental care in remote villages of Tanzania. |
Dr. Nicole Lochard
Dr. Nicole Lochard returned to her hometown of Sidney, Ohio to join MidWest Ohio Dental Care upon graduation from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in May of 2019. She attended The Ohio State University for both undergraduate and dental school. As an undergraduate, she majored in Biomedical Sciences, which is a highly selective program focusing on undergraduate medical research. While there for her undergraduate work, she completed 3 years of research in Huntington's Disease and co-founded a research and education organization for Multiple Myeloma. Dr. Lochard graduated as one of the top ten students of her dental school class, earning honors and being admitted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental honors fraternity.
Dr. Lochard is married to Alex Lochard, also a native of Sidney. They welcomed their first child, Reese, shortly after Dr. Lochard's graduation from dental school in 2019. Their family currently resides in Sidney and they look forward to being actively involved in the communtiy and giving back to their hometown. Dr. Lochard is a member of the Shelby County Charity League and Holy Angels Catholic Church.
Dr. Lochard performs general dental care and clear aligner orthodontics. She is a member of The American Dental Association and Ohio Dental Association. She enjoys serving her hometown by providing high quality, modern dental care. |
Julie Edelen -
I am married to Dr. Edelen. I am originally from Sidney. I have helped at the office since opening in 1991. I also work part time as a physical therapist for Upper Valley Medical Center.

I am Dr. Damen Patel's wife. I grew up in Columbus, OH. I have a MBA from Mount Saint Mary's College in New York. Currently I am a stay at home mom to three wonderful children. |

Tell us about yourself.
I have worked at MidWest Ohio Dental Care since 1995 when I graduated from Rhodes State College. I reside in St. Marys with my two girls.
What is the best part of your job? The connection I am able to make with my patients. I have a number of patients that I truly look forward to seeing on my schedule.
What do you like to do for fun? Besides spending time with my family, I enjoy playing coed volleyball. I also like to take long walks with friends or my dogs.
Why did you decide on a career in dentistry? My career in dentistry started by accident in 1990 when I worked as a dental assistant. The dentist I worked for encouraged me to pursue a career in dental hygiene. |
Hollie McLain, R.D.H.
Dental Hygienist
Tell us about yourself.
I graduated from Rhodes State College in June 2004 and have been employed at MidWest Ohio Dental Care since then. I was born and raised in Sidney and attended Anna Local School, which is where my family currently resides. I am blessed with two daughters Marlie and Logyn, and a son Jaxon.
Where do you hope to travel one day? Hawaii. It looks so beautiful, and I love vacationing at the beach.
What is the best part of your job? I enjoy all my co-workers, at work and outside of the office, too!
What do you like to do for fun? I am currently a member of Charity League. I enjoy time with friends and family and being involved with my children and their numerous activities.
Why did you decide on a career in dentistry? I always knew I wanted to work in the healthcare field. I liked the idea of helping people achieve a healthy mouth!

Tell us about yourself.
I joined the MidWest Ohio Dental Care team in June 2011. My husband and I live on the family dairy farm with our 5 kids. We have bookend girls and three boys in the middle.
What is the best part of your job? I enjoy seeing my patients every six months and catching up with what is going on with their lives and families.
What do you like to do for fun? We enjoy spending weekends on the lake and watching our kids' ball games.

I was raised in Piqua and graduated from Piqua High School in 2001. I have been with MidWest Ohio Dental Care since 2006. I received my CDA certification in February 2010 and received my EFDA, expanded functions dental assistant, in June 2014. I have been married to my husband, Ryan since 2007 and we currently live in Troy with our son, Tanner and daughter, Rogyn.
What is the best part of your job? I enjoy all of the hands-on experiences and learning all the new technology our office has to offer.
What do you like to do for fun? I like to spend time with my family and friends. I love to spend time outdoors with my family. We like to go for walks, go camping, and spend time at the park and pool! |

I have worked for Midwest Ohio Dental Care since April 2006 as a Certified Dental Assistant. Since 2009 I have worked as an Expanded Function Dental Assistant after graduating from Sinclair Community College. I attended high school in Houston and currently live in the Sidney area with my husband Keith. We have two children, Shaila and Nathan, and a grandson, Jeremiah.
What is the best part of your job? The staff I work with is great.
Why did you decide on a career in dentistry? My career in dentistry chose me while I was working in a totally different field. I have no regrets, and love what I do now. |

I have been a Dental Assistant for 34 years. I joined the MidWest Ohio Dental Care team in August 2020. My husband and I reside in Sidney and have twin sons Mathias and Ty.
What is the best part of your job? I love my patients. I strive to make the patient comfortable and enjoy their dental experience.

Mackenzie White

Tell us about yourself.
I have worked in the dental field since 2011. I attended the Dental Assistant Training School (DATS, LLC) in Troy, Ohio. During that time, I obtained my Dental Radiographer's License from the Ohio State Dental Board. I enjoy learning from my peers and taking continuing education courses to stay up-to-date on dental healthcare. Aside from assisting, I am also a wife and mother. My hsuband and I have been married since 2013 and have been blessed with tow daughters and a son, all 2 years apart.
What is the best part of your job? I look forward to meeting new and familiar faces while ensuring their dental experience is something to look forward to, rather than fear.
What do you like to do for fun? I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, going to concerts and sporting events, and traveling. |

I was raised in Minster and graduated from Minster High School in 2003. I have joined MidWest Ohio Dental Care in June 2020. I have been married to my husband Paul since 2011 and we currently live in Minster with our son, Gabriel.
What is the best part of your job? All my co-workers and meeting new patients.
What do you like to do for fun? I love spending time with my family and friends. During the summer we really enjoy camping and fishing.
Why did you decide on a career in dentistry?I really didn't choose it, it chose me. My first job in dentistry I found fascinating and enjoyed seeing all the smiley faces!

What do you like to do for fun? I enjoy camping with my family, horseback riding, and golf.
Why did you decide on a career in dentistry? I've had an interest in teeth since I was a child. I attended Miami Valley Career Technology School my junior and senior year of high school and have been working in the field since then. I love working with people to improve their smile and health. |

Tell us about yourself.
I have been a hygienist since 1987. I have worked in Piqua since 1993. I grew up in Maria Stein, Ohio. I am a graduate of Marion Local High School. I went to Lima Technical College for dental hygiene, and in 2002 I went back to Sinclair Community College for EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assisting). I live in Minster with my husband. We have 3 children Reid, Ross & RaeAnne who live and work in Cincinnati.
Where do you hope to travel one day? I would like to go to Germany for the real Oktoberfest.
What is the best part of your job? Meeting new people and learning new things from my patients. They all have lots of great information to share.
What do you like to do for fun? I like concerts, Cleveland Browns football games, and spending time with my children. I like visiting historical places in the U.S., watching movies, cooking new recipes and scrapbooking.
Why did you decide on a career in dentistry? I always loved seeing people with big, beautiful, wide smiles. I found this to be attractive and made me happy. I wanted to help everyone get that smile on!

What do you like to do for fun?
We enjoy 4-wheeling in our jeep and spending time with family and friends.
Why did you decide on a career in dentistry? I have always been interested in health care. The first thing I have always noticed are peoples smiles!
